AN amateur theatre company is performing a stage adaptation of a classic British comedy as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.

Dryburn Theatrical Workshop, based in Chester-le-Street, is putting on a show of Richard Curtis and Ben Elton's cult comedy Blackadder.

The performance at the community centre in Chester-le-Street will feature adaptations of three episodes from Blackadder's Tudor era.

Chairman Lee Passmoor said: “We’re delighted to present the stage version of the hugely popular and funny ‘Blackadder’.

"Three hilarious episodes with all the well-known characters, including Blackadder, Baldrick, Queenie, Nursie, Lord Percy and Melchett. It’s fabulous entertainment for a summer’s evening.”

The show is on from September 5-8, starting at 7.15pm.

Tickets are £7 on the Wednesday, and £8 for adults and £7 for concessions from Thursday to Saturday. Book by calling 0191-388-3362 or 07468-607420 or at
